As new sci-fi films pour out of Hollywood, time to check out a cult classic!
Blood: You know, Albert, sometimes you can be such a putz…
Vic: A putz? What’s a putz? It’s somethin’ bad, isn’t it? You better take that back or I’m gonna kick your fuzzy butt!
Blood: [sighs] Yep, definitely a putz.
Great dialogue made better by the fact that Blood is a talking dog!
Lucky for Blood, his partner in crime is a very young Don Johnson!
They wander a post apocalyptic earth until some VERY strange things happen – this is one crazy, offbeat and twisted mind meld of a movie!
“An ‘R’ Rated, Rather Kinky Tale Of Survival!”
That’s the tag line for “A Boy And His Dog”. If you haven’t heard of this mind-bending sci-fi cult classic, now is the time!
A Boy And His Dog
This obscure cult classic is now available on DVD, so check out the trailer!
This is a great great sci-fi movie, written by one of science fiction’s greatest writers -
“A Boy And His Dog” was based on a novella by famed sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison.
A boy communicates telepathically with his dog as they scavenge for food and sex, and they stumble into an underground society where the old society is preserved. The daughter of one of the leaders of the community seduces and lures him below, where the citizens have become unable to reproduce because of being underground so long.
The screenplay was started by Harlan Ellison, who wrote the novella on which it is based. Ellison encountered writer’s block, and so producer Alvy Moore and L.Q. Jones took over and wrote the script. Ellison praised the film after its premiere, to the relief of Moore.
Legendary character Actor Jason Robards plays the deranged leader of the underground cult…to say more would give away the many’s strange pleasures of this cult sci-fi movie!
Tim McIntire, who performed the voice of “Blood”, sang the main title song, “A Boy and His Dog.” Check out “Blood” and a very young Don Johnson – in this “kinky tale of survival!”
And of course, congrats to Don Johnson for his role in “Django Unchained”…to see more about this film, and the worst race movies of the 70′s, check this out!
